In 2021, the Nissan Rogue debuted a complete makeover. Most automakers would let such a substantial redesign ride out for a few years (at least). Nissan, though, is following up the 2021 redesign with an all-new turbo engine to power the 2022 Rogue, which increases strength and fuel efficiency. Here’s a closer look at the 2022 Rogue’s top updates.
The all-new 1.5-liter VC-Turbo engine, which is available on every trim level of the 2022 Rogue, increases horsepower by 11% to reach 201 horsepower and torque by 24% to reach 225 lb-ft. Further comparison to the 2021 model’s ratings reveals that the 2022 Rogue also increases combined fuel-efficiency rating to 33 mpg.
The all-new VC-Turbo engine pairs to an enhanced Xtronic transmission. Compared to the its previous generation, the new transmission features a newly developed control valve system, a twin oil pump system, a 17 percent wider gear ratio coverage, and 32 percent lower friction. These elements work together to deliver better driving response in the 2022 Rogue.
“As the Nissan NEXT transformation continues, the 2022 Nissan Rogue’s all-new powertrain is a proof point of the company’s commitment to investing in its lineup and improving the company’s product, brand and sales power in the U.S.,” said Mike Colleran, senior vice president, Nissan U.S. Marketing and Sales. “Rogue’s new 1.5-liter VC-Turbo adds real-world value while providing more thrill behind the wheel.”
